Creating a cup of fresh coffee is quick and easy requiring simply the push of a button. The only downside is that it doesn’t come with a built-in milk frother. Overall, this is a versatile machine ideal for the coffee lover.

Nespresso offers a range of premium pod machines. They all use the Nespresso pod-based system to create coffee. The machines are made by various brands like Delonghi, Breville, and Krups and are both well-built and affordable. Nespresso machines are convenient and straightforward to use, producing coffee at the push of a button. While purists would declare the coffee delivered cannot compare to freshly brewed coffee, the typical coffee consumer will enjoy it. The Nespresso Vertuo Next is the latest in the Vertuo line-up. The Nespresso Vertuo Next sports a sleek, almost futuristic look. It is available in a range of stylish colors and chrome accents. Nespresso has designed the machine with sustainability in mind. The Vertuo Next is built from 54% recycled plastics and comes boxed in fully recyclable packaging. Nespresso also offers a capsule recycling program for those concerned about waste associated with single serve machines.
While the Vertuo Next is marketed as being the smallest machine in the range, it is still rather bulky. It measures 5.5 inches wide, 16.8 inches deep, 12.4 inches high, and weighs 8.8 pounds. The water reservoir holds 37 oz, and the used capsule container can accommodate ten espresso or six mug capsules.
As mentioned above, the Nespresso Vertuo Next is distinguished by the varying cup sizes it can produce. It uses Vertuo pods (or smart pods, as I like to call them) with barcodes that direct the machine to brew your drink. It automatically adjusts the brewing parameters for each capsule- cup size, pressure, temperature, and brew time. There are five different drink sizes available: the standard Espresso (1.35 oz) and Double Espresso (2.7 oz), a Gran Lungo (5 oz), the comforting Coffee (7,77 oz), and the mighty Alto (12 oz). Nespresso has also recently released a new Pour Over capsule, exclusive to the Nespresso Vertuo Next range, creating an 18 oz beverage. You can buy a pour-over style carafe to pair with your Vertuo Next if you want to go down that route.
While the Nespresso Vertuo Next offers you a vast range of coffee and espresso options, you are hooked into the Nespresso system. You cannot use ground coffee, the machine is only compatible with Vertuo pods.
Finally, the only other thing to mention is that the Nespresso Vertuo Next does not have a built-in milk frother, which may be a deal-breaker for some. The absence of a milk frother limits the drinks to espressos or americanos. Performance
The Nespresso Vertuo Next, like any Nespresso machine, excels at convenience. The machine takes 25 seconds to heat up. Making coffee is as simple as opening the lever, popping in your selected capsule, closing the lever, and pushing the coffee button to start brewing. The cup stand can be adjusted to three different height levels or removed altogether to accommodate travel mugs. The machine will then automatically turn off 2 minutes after being used.
The Nespresso Vertuo Next also delivers on the coffee. Think smooth, strong, crema-rich brews. The Vertuoline range uses centrifugal force to spin the capsule at high speeds and produce coffee topped with a thick layer of crema. A vast range of different flavored Nespresso capsules are available, although some critics claim it is difficult to distinguish between the different flavors. The coffee produced is strong and somewhat bitter. The addition of milk mellows out the flavors- another reason the lack of a milk frother is a drawback!
Finally, the Nespresso Vertuo Next features wifi and Bluetooth functionality. While this sounds in vogue, these capabilities are more of a novelty than anything beneficial. When paired with the app, the machine will alert you when the water level is low or when it is time to descale the machine.

As mentioned above, Nespresso offers a range of different coffee capsules for the Vertuo Next. The capsules come in different flavors, origins, levels of intensities and there is also a selection of decaf options. If you are switching over from the original line, you will notice there are a lot less capsule options, as there are currently no third party capsules for the Vertuo Next.
The coffee produced from the Vertuo Next is a step up from your standard instant or Keurig fare. Nespresso uses aluminum capsules that are tightly sealed to prevent the coffee from going stale. Maintenance
As is typical of most Nespresso machines, there is very little mess created when using them. Regular maintenance involves emptying the removable drip tray and used capsule container every few days and rinsing and refilling the water tank. The Nespresso Vertuo Next has a cleaning cycle that can be run when necessary. Nespresso also recommends descaling the machine every 600 coffees or every six months. This is a simple procedure taking around 20 minutes. If you download the app, your phone will notify you when these cycles are due, or the machine has a blinking light that will alert you.
