Bestpresso Review

Recently founded in 2013, Bestpresso has risen in the ranks to become one of the largest single-serve coffee producers in the world. Compared to Nespresso, which has a similar name but has been around for decades, it’s a slightly lesser quality alternative.

Bestpresso has delicious flavor coffee pods for both Keurig and Nespresso coffee makers, and the company gives you a variety of flavor options. If you’re interested in understanding more about the brand and the highlights/lowlights of Bestpresso, we’ve done a bit of research to help you decide if it’s worth trying.

Check out an in-depth review below on Bestpresso coffee pods and how they stack up against the competition.

What Flavors Do You Get?

There are 12 blends that you get with the Bestpresso line of coffee pods, which is pretty similar to Nespresso’s line. You’ll see that there’s a variety, ranging from single origin pods to decaffeinated, light blends, strong, and intense flavors.

Bestpresso Review: Flavors for Nespresso

Bestpresso has a range of pods for Nespresso Machines. Below we’ve provided a brief description of each pod’s taste and intensity .

Ristretto (High-Intensity)

Ristretto is best for Italian-style coffees, which is a very intense and concentrated shot of coffee. It doesn’t last long, but it packs a punch.

Intenso (High-Intensity)

This pod brings you that intense and robust flavor, and it’s no surprise that it’s one of the more popular blends from Bestpresso. The rich flavor and velvety texture deliver a complete tasting experience.

Espresso Variety (Intensity Varies)

Want to go the espresso route? Well, luckily, Bestpresso has developed pods geared toward giving you a delicious shot of espresso time and time again. It’s the perfect blend of floral and chocolate flavor.

Verona (High-Intensity)

This coffee pod, another Italian blend, has high intensity and comes packed with Arabica beans.

Lungo (High-Intensity)

The complete opposite of the Ristretto, the Lungo gives you bold flavor in a large coffee mug. For coffee lovers who want their morning cup of joe to last a while, this is the perfect selection. The coffee in this pod maintains the strength and flavor for a longer “sip”.

Arabica (Light-Intensity)

The Arabica blend is on the lighter side,  Arabica coffee at the center, producing a sweet citrus burst of flavor.

Decaffeinato (Medium-Intensity)

Get all of the flavors with none of the caffeine. The Decaffeinato is perfect for java lovers that can’t drink caffeinated coffee but don’t want to miss out on the same flavor and quality.

Brazil & Colombia (High-Intensity)

These two single pods are available for the Nespresso coffee maker as well. Brazil and Colombia have a beautifully smooth, sweet, and high-intensity flavor that yields a well-balanced cup.

Lastly, you can also get capsules from this line with hand-picked coffees for a dominant and concentrated flavor.

Bestpresso vs Nespresso

So what’s the verdict on the comparison? Despite having nearly the same names and flavor profiles as Nespresso, Bestpresso falls short in two areas: excellent taste and rich aroma.

Nespresso has been around for quite some time, and they’ve pretty much perfected the perfect shot of espresso. The brand also produces their own coffee machines and organized premium coffee pods as well.

Though it may cost a little more, you’re getting a consistently delicious tasting cup of coffee every time. They also use raw materials that don’t get stale but instead, produce a more saturated and bold flavor.

While Bestpresso is a good alternative, you’ll be compromising on the taste when compared to the Nespresso brand.

Bestpresso Flavors for Keurig

If you own a Keurig machine, don’t fret! Bestpresso also has coffee pods available for the Keurig models, though this line of flavor capsules isn’t as extensive. Nonetheless, there are multiple roasts available for your enjoyment.

You can experience the light-intensity Breakfast Blend, the Italian Roast, the classic blend, or the strong blend, amongst others. In particular, two fan favorites from this line are the Colombian Roast and the Donut Shop.

They are both pleasantly sweet and medium-roasted. If you’re looking for a more robust and darker blend, go for the French or Costa Rican Roast. These pods are delicious alternatives to K-cups produced by Keurig.

Differing roasting levels are more of a feature for the coffee pods compatible with the Keurig machines because Keurig focuses on diverse coffee drinks. Nespresso, on the other hand, is focused on stronger espresso-style coffee drinks.

Coffee Maker Compatibility

Whether you are the owner of a Nespresso or Keurig coffee maker, the only question you have when buying coffee pods is, “will they work in my machine?”.

Bestpresso, a company that makes compatible pods, has taken measures to test their pods with the K-cup brewers, the new Keurig 2.0 machines, and all the Nespresso OriginalLine machines. If you own any of these brewers, Bestpresso pods will undoubtedly work without a hitch.

There’s one caveat to be aware of in all of this. Bestpresso doesn’t make pods for the VertuoLine machines from Nespresso. Do not purchase Bestpresso pods for this coffee maker as they are incompatible.

Pros

After establishing whether or not Bestpresso pods can function properly in your machine, it is natural to wonder why you would choose Bestpresso pods over the original pods, outside of taste, of course.

For starters, adding Bestpresso to your lineup only serves to add more variety to your assortment of flavors. No two pod brands are exactly alike; they contain different coffee from around the world and in different ratios.

Bestpresso coffee is completely Rainforest Alliance certified. This means that during cultivating, harvesting, and procurement of your product, good practices in sustainable forestry were performed throughout the entire process.

Lastly, Bestpresso even takes it a step further by offering a 60-day satisfaction guarantee to their customers. If you’re not satisfied with their coffee, you can contact Bestpresso for a refund.

  • Gives you more variety of flavor
  • Coffee is Rainforest Alliance certified
  • Offers a 60-day satisfaction guarantee

Cons

A common complaint with the Bestpresso pods is that they can be virtually indistinguishable from Nespresso pods. It seems as though they essentially tried to copy the Nespresso line right down to the flavors and names of the pods.

Moreover, even though Bestpresso pods are marketed as intensely flavorful, there is very little discernible difference compared to Nespresso pods. And since the Nespresso pods offer the better flavor, it seems pointless to purchase Bestpresso if you’re not getting different flavors, and the taste isn’t as good.

This may have to do with how the machine brews the pods. Another possibility could be how Bestpresso rates the intensity of their coffee. Maybe their scaling is lower than that of Nespresso’s pods.

We recommend trying the most intense Bestpresso pods to discover whether or not this is the case for you. It could be that Nespresso’s intensity is better suited for you instead.

  • The intensity of the coffee can taste milder than advertised
  • Almost indistinguishable from Nespresso’s pods

Final Thoughts

Choosing to try Bestpresso pods can give you more of a selection of flavors to choose from. That’s because no two pods are the same, and they each offer unique flavors that can help remove the monotony of drinking the same thing over and over again from your life.

Although Bestpresso offers good flavor and a competitive price, remember that it doesn’t fare as well compared to the Nespresso brand and taste. However, if you are looking for an alternative that can give you a semblance of the flavor that Nespresso pods offer, then Bestpresso pods may be the choice for you!
